São muitos os homens e mulheres que a Igreja Católica elevou às honras dos altares ao longo dos vários séculos. A todos eles é atribuído um dia no calendário litúrgico. A aplicação Santos do Dia selecionou um santo em cada dia do ano e dá-lhe a conhecer a vida e a obra dessa figura que marcou a vida da Igreja e da sociedade. 

Viveram nas mais diversas épocas, conviveram com as mais diversas formas de organização social, foram religiosos ou leigos. Foram homens e mulheres que por entre a diversidade das suas vidas tiveram algo em comum: o testemunho da fé cristã. Porque foram exemplo de vida, a Igreja considera-os santos. 

Uma imagem ilustrativa de cada figura acompanha cada texto biográfico que narra, de forma resumida, o percurso da vida de cada santo: desde o nascimento até à morte com especial enfoque no trabalho que desenvolveram e no legado que deixaram à Igreja e à sociedade. 

Cada biografia é ainda acompanhada de uma pequena frase alusiva à vida de cada santo que é um convite à reflexão. Sempre que possível o convite à reflexão parte de uma citação do próprio santo retirada dos seus escritos. 

A seleção do santo de cada dia está ligada a dois grandes critérios: relevância do santo para a Igreja Universal e para a Igreja e sociedade portuguesa. A Igreja de Cristo possui muitos santos canonizados e a quantidade de dias do calendário não permite que eles sejam homenageados em exclusividade. Por isso, em cada entrada do calendário, são também referidos outros santos cuja memória litúrgica se celebra nesse dia.

Many men and women that the Catholic Church has raised to the altars over the centuries. To all of them is assigned a day in the liturgical calendar. Application Day Saints selected a saint in every day of the year and gives you the know the life and work of this figure that marked the life of the Church and society.

They lived in various times, lived with the most diverse forms of social organization, were religious or lay. Were men and women who through the diversity of their lives had something in common: the testimony of the Christian faith. Because they were living example, the Church considers them holy.

An illustrative image of each figure with each biographical text tells, briefly, the way of life of each saint: from birth to death with special focus on the work they have done and the legacy they left the Church and society.

Each biography is still with a little allusive sentence to life of every saint who is an invitation to reflection. Whenever possible, the invitation to reflect part of a quote from the saint himself removed from his writings.

Every day of the saint's selection is linked to two main criteria: relevance of the saint for the universal Church and for the Church and Portuguese society. The Igreja de Cristo has many canonized saints and the number of calendar days does not allow them to be honored exclusively. Therefore, in each calendar entry, they are also referred to other saints whose feast day is celebrated on that day.
